Only Men Puts Male Brands In The Spotlight

by Gordon Beattie on 14. May 2012

The launch of Only Men, the world’s first marketing boutique for male brands, certainly caused a stir in the press and media!

Scribbler after scribbler got in touch before penning articles to say – it’s unbelievable that Only Men is the first male marketing agency to be unleashed on an unsuspecting world.

The big question on every journalist’s lips was “Why?”

I honestly don’t know why no one else has thought of launching a specialist male marketing agency, especially when you consider the male market is worth a staggering £150bn.

Here are a few possible answers to the question why:

  • Could it be that the majority of people at the top of the advertising and marketing world are men and if Freud is correct, most men spend their time thinking about women!
  • Could it be that the female market is so much bigger than the male market and that’s where everyone chooses to chase the scent of perfume instead of aftershave?
  • Could it be that everyone in the marketing industry follows the herd and there are far too few original thinkers out there?

Whatever the answer, we at Beattie Communications have the market to ourselves for men PR and male marketing services.

We know we have the eyes of the marketing industry upon us and we know that other agencies will follow our lead and move into the sector – if they see Only Men becoming a commercial success.

Time will tell but one thing’s for certain – I will not be shouting too loudly about our success as I would like to have this important market to ourselves for just a little while longer.

We Launch The World’s First Male Marketing Boutique

by Gordon Beattie on 7. May 2012

Beattie Communications today racked up a world first when we launched the planet’s only male marketing boutique.

Only Men offers an extensive menu of PR and marketing services to brands targeting the male audience.

It’s hard to believe that with men accounting for over half of the world’s population, there are no other marketing agencies specifically targeting men – until now.

Every marketing agency under the sun is involved to a greater or lesser degree in the provision of services to brands used by men but we reckon that everyone has been paying lip services to men’s marketing.

We searched the internet and found not one agency focussing exclusively on male marketing, despite numerous consumer male brands spending millions targeting the audience.

We reckon the men’s market is worth in excess of £150bn yet mankind has been disenfranchised by an industry that claims to have its finger on the pulse of what’s going on.

So why have we launched Only Men?

Well, it’s fairly obvious that men are different from women – you don’t have to be a brain surgeon to work that out!  We think differently, we look at the women differently and we behave differently.

Advertising and marketing campaigns that might appeal to women will not necessarily strike a chord with men.

We see Only Men as a springboard that will allow brands to specifically target the male audience.

We are launching with a small core team of four but our ambition is to double in size over the next year.

As you would expect, Only Men is offering an extensive menu of PR and marketing services including web marketing, media relations, advertising, media buying, direct marketing and social media marketing.

Right now the entire Only Men team is male but we will not be averse to hiring women who are passionate about marketing to men.

Our No1 aim at the moment is to win a few clients. Among the sectors we will be targeting are retail, health, fitness and automotive.

I am delighted to announce that Beattie Communications has launched its Only Public Relations brand in Australia.

Spearheading our launch down under is Sarah McMahon, who worked in-house and with Blinc International in Sydney for four years.

We are really excited to be bringing the fast-growing Only brand to Australia. We will build the business by providing Australian clients with an integrated mix of PR and marketing services.

In addition to consumer PR, B2B PR and corporate PR Only Public Relations offers media buying, social media marketing and a full menu of web marketing services.

Beattie Communications Creates Content Marketing Team

by Gordon Beattie on 10. April 2012

Beattie Communications, today hit the media headlines for the creation of a specialist content marketing team.

We responded to client demands and formed a content creation team by drawing writers, cameramen, broadcasters, designers, programmers and developers from across our eight UK offices.

They will produce everything from websites to videos, events to eBooks and digital games to viral content.

Our content marketing team is empowering brands to become publishers of impactful content that will reach out to individuals and businesses and attract them to become customers and clients.

Our content marketing team comprises individuals from Beattie Communications and our sister brands - Only Words and Only Web.

We are providing a turnkey service that begins with strategy, goes through content creation, content optimisation and content distribution to a multitude of traditional and digital platforms including the press, broadcast media, web and mobile and the social media in all its guises.

Some say content marketing is a fad. I, on the other hand believe that content marketing has the potential to become the next major growth opportunity for creative agencies.

Traditional advertising is losing its impact as consumers resist the in-your-face sell. They would rather a trusted friend recommend a product or service or they discovered a brand themselves.

Content marketing is subtle. It relies on discovery rather than the hard sell. It's why I believe it will become increasingly important for b2b and b2c brands.

For years I have been preaching that content is king and with every passing month, market research verifies that belief.

As consumers, we have an insatiable appetite for entertaining, informative and inspiring content whether it's videos on YouTube, pictures on Pinterest or short blogs on Twitter.

Our hunger for fresh and exciting content is growing daily and smart brands have woken up to the fact that publishing fresh and exciting content not only allows them to connect with consumers, it enables them to win and retain new customers.

Content marketing is a relatively new marketing science but I predict it's going to be around for years to come!

Beattie Communications Launches New Website

by Gordon Beattie on 2. April 2012

Beattie Communications today celebrated the launch of a new-look website - our first website revamp in five years.

Crisp, fresh and easy on the eye, it features digital paintings by Jon Swain who heads up our Essex-based graphic design team.

Jon put his digital paintbrush to work creating unique digital paintings for virtually every page of the website.

We ran a poll of our people and they rated the Crisis PR, social media PR and the marketing services pages the most eye-catching.

The big question is - what do you think?

  • Do you like or hate our new website
  • If you like it - what do you like about it
  • If you hate it - tell me what's wrong with it
  • Can we improve it - I'd welcome your ideas

I'm a real believer in getting feedback from outside of the company. So please feel free to give me your thoughts or even marks out of ten!
